Southern Cruise (14 Days Trip)

Male', Rasdhoo, Ari Atoll, Mulaku Atoll, Thaa Atoll, Laamu Atoll, Gaaf Alif Atoll, Gaaf Dhaal Atoll, Addu Atoll and back to Male' via domestic flight through Gan.

We first head for Rasdhoo Atoll (hammerhead sharks) and then for Ari atoll (mantas, whale sharks, gray reef sharks, superb tilas with soft corals). Continuing on across the unknown southerly atolls such as Mulaku, Thaa and Laamu, we enjoy great channel drift dives with sharks, eagle rays, sting rays, tunas, barracudas, napoleons, etc. along the way. As an extra bonus we will explore promising unknown reefs.

Early in 2004 we had a chance to dive the Gaaf Dhaal and Gaaf Alif (Huvadhoo) atolls for several weeks. These remote atolls emit an incredible serenity with their numerous uninhabited islands. You may expect untouched reefs and channels with sharks and rays, giant schools of tuna and mackerels. Daily encounters with intact hard coral reefs and enormous schools of dolphins will leave you in awe.

We complete our Southern Cruise in the Addu atoll with a dive at the arguably most beautiful shipwreck of the Maldives, the “British Loyalty“, resting in midst fascinating coral overgrowth on the sheltered inside of the reef. At 140 m in length, this impressive vessel was torpedoed and subsequently sunk by the Japanese navy in 1944. There we will also find pelagic fish such as hammerhead sharks, as well as mantas, grey reef sharks, eagle rays and loads of turtles.

Departing from Addu Atoll (Gan) we take a domestic flight back to Male'.

Undoubtedly, this cruise belongs among the top dive safaris available in the Maldives. Within 14 days you will have the opportunity to experience everything this unique island nation has to offer!
We take the diver on a miraculous journey to the yet unspoiled reefs in the far south of the Maldives - an outstanding dive safari experience we cannot recommend enough!
